![]() Larry Bird highlights were playing on the barroom TV. “She was more beautiful than Helen of Troy,” Barrett says. He couldn’t help but notice the waitress next to him. In 1986, after finishing a gig at the Varsity Inn in East Lansing, Michigan, David Barrett - who a few months later would be described in a CBS press release as a “modestly successful club singer” - took a seat at the bar. Like for so many endeavors, its inspiration came in a bar. How did this song become the soundtrack of March Madness? The 2016 montage, which will run on TBS for the first time, will mark the 30th straight year it has aired (CBS aired the prior 29 editions). Last year over 10 million people watched “One Shining Moment” on CBS. ![]() Players dream of appearing in it, and fans can’t get enough of it. For three decades, “One Shining Moment” has followed the men’s national title game: with keyboards, trumpet filigrees and R&B stars like Pendergrass and Luther Vandross crooning lyrics such as “And when it’s done/win or lose/you always did your best/cause inside you knew,” the tune doesn’t skimp on the schmaltz. In most sports, after a championship game TV viewers flip the channel or head to bed. At least my girlfriend at the time, who also grew up loving college hoops - and the song - said she was impressed. Basically, I was an extra: not exactly the way I dreamed of appearing in “One Shining Moment” as a kid. I was a little-used reserve on that team, and was in the shot for a blip, wearing my warmup. “The ball is tipped,” sang a wistful Teddy Pendergrass, “And there you are…”Īnd there I was, about a minute into the montage, to the left of the screen, running off the Princeton bench after the Tigers upset UCLA in the first round of the 1996 tournament. First, I heard the familiar keyboards: “Ding ding, ding ding, ding ding ding ding ding, ding ding, ding ding.” Then the trumpet blare: “BA BA BA BA BAAAAA!” A few seconds later, the lyrics begin. As per custom, I stayed up to watch “One Shining Moment,” the roughly three-minute highlight montage of the just-ended NCAA tournament set to an 80s ballad of the same name. Kentucky had just beaten Syracuse in the national championship game. I remember exactly where I saw it: in a dorm room, late one April Monday night, 20 years ago.

I even stripped off the ridiculous debuff it costs you.Welcome to the official subreddit for the games Darkest Dungeon 1 & 2!ĭarkest Dungeon is available for PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, PSVita, iPad and Nintendo Switch! I sometimes put finale on but I never end up using it. That said my new favourite party has a jester in it. Alternatively, you can take someone who doesn't rely on bleed for good damage. This exposes the jester to two heavy hits, and he normally won't be able to use inspiring tune, his true purpose in life. So actually the thing to do is use dirk stab, so the jester doesn't sacrifice any damage turns. ![]() Enemy turn -> jester -> solo speed buff -> jester turn. Solo would work nicely if the jester's base speed was slow. With the bone general exception, using solo as intended exposes the jester to at least one heavy hit. ![]() During the cleanup phase, when finale might have some +damage stacks, the best thing for a jester to be doing is cleaning up stress, not cleaning up enemies.įor most double-wide fights, the jester will 100% do more damage with slice off than with finale. To be fair finale is now actively counterproductive in most cases. Well devs decided to change it so it's actually a "finale" - you need to "perform" for a while before you can deal serious damage with it.īut people got mad because devs took a cheap trick away from them. People loved to put Jester in the first position and use Finale at the start of the battle because it could often kill enemies in one shot. The skills that i use on my Jesters are: 1.Dirk Stab, 2.Finale, 3.Inspiring Tune and 4.Slice Of ore Harvest depending on the situation I heard Finale wasn't that good, what does it do? Finale used to be this strong ability that deals a ton of damage, but it pushes him to the back row and weakens him. So Quirks that boost their surviveability like Tough and maybe Bleed-, Blight resist should be locked in. The only problem you maybe run into is that they can be squishy. The stress heal allowes you to survive long dungeons without the danger of aflictions, this is very good at the longer dungeons, in the DLC or DD1 and DD2. Originally posted by TWAVoyager:I think Jesters are worth running i used them for the target stress heal and their dmg isn´t bad either. However in this build Jester can be replased with Houndmaster. Globally the market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 16.2% to 2027 to reach US$14.51 billion. That was before the accelerated trend triggered by the coronavirus lockdowns. The global hard seltzer market size was estimated at US$4.51 billion at the beginning of last year. White Claw and Truly – produced by Mark Anthony Brands and Boston Beer – led the pack and, according to Nielsen, they had a combined US market share of just over 75% in mid June 2020. The category began appearing just under a decade ago. With more millennials and Generation Z looking for strong, powerful brands, which they can share on their social media channels, producers are clambering to get in front of younger audiences who find seltzers fit their profile more than the more traditional forms of alcohol.Īnd because they are mostly produced from fermented cane sugar, hard seltzers – effectively fizzy flavoured alcoholic water with a low ABV – also come with a “low carb” lifestyle association. ![]() During lockdown and the consequent rise in home consumption, spirits sales have soared and beer has taken a battering.īut within the “long” alcohol segment seltzers have been fizzing at double-digit annual growth rates, especially in the US, and their market is predicted to expand even more quickly now that the public has got the taste for them. The biggest loser in the drinks spectrum over the past year has been beer, the bedrock of AB InBev’s global business. It is bold to spend US$1 billion on what is a relatively new market, but that is what the world’s biggest brewer, Anheuser-Busch InBev, is doing in the next two years to expand production of hard seltzers. Calming Music for Cats - 20 HOURS of 528Hz Healing Music This calming music for cats is perfect for relaxing and soothing your feline friend during times. How do you tell if a cat actually likes a noise? The researchers looked at how much their subjects purred, rubbed against speakers and oriented their head toward the music. These cats often make noise to get attention from their owners. In the study, most of the 47 cats tested appeared to prefer these sounds to classical human masterworks. "We have developed a theoretical framework that hypothesizes that in order for music to be effective with other species, it must be in the frequency range and with similar tempos to those used in natural communication by each species," write study authors Charles Snowdon and Megan Savage, both psychologists at the University of Wisconsin, and David Teie, a musician who has collaborated with Snowdon on the study of species-specific music for the better part of a decade. For instance, Snowden and his colleagues propose feline-appropriate music might mimic the rhythmic and tonal qualities of a purr, or a kitten suckling at its mother's teat.Īccording to io9, the research team found that “Cosmo’s Air,” the song above composed by Teie, “has a pulse related to purring of 1380 beats per min" and includes tones cats use in their vocalizations. The new study, published in Applied Animal Behavioral Science, concludes that domestic cats prefer “species-specific” music that resembles the tempos and frequencies naturally used in their communications. And that might not be too far off from what was intended. Noise indoors, such as the radio or TV whatever you cat might be used to will make the noise outside less obvious, and hopefully help to calm your cat. ![]() It sounds a little like a slow Sigur Rós song played in the belly of a purring cat. The unit also weighs in at a little under 6 lbs., so it is not a light-weight. These dimensions do not include a head, as there is not one included. A 9-inch removable section of the center column allows a minimum set-up height of a little over 10 inches. 27 inches folded height, 70 inches fully extended. Probably best used for more stationary situations such as studio work or any situations where stability is of primary importance, this unit is a little larger at approx. I paid $100 for mine, but I just noticed that B&H now has this black model for $90. If size and weight are not your paramount concerns, then this is an excellent tripod and a screaming bargain. Would I pay $159.00 for this tripod new fromB&H? Absolutely! It’s worth every penny. Overall I am very pleased it’s well built and rock solid. ![]() The handles were well positionedand the level bubbles were a pleasure. The pan head worked well and was rathersmooth. I thought this would be troublesome but afterusing it I found I liked and it locked in tight. I bought mine used off of Craigslist and it came with theSlik pan tilt head with the round quick release plate. The center post can be screwed off at thecenter and legs folded out making the minimum height from top of the head tothe bottom about 15 inches. Even the leg locks clamps aremetal and must be pulled up to release and pressed down to lock. All the locking hardware is metal and withthe exception of rubber covered handles and knobs this entire tripod appears tobe made of metal. The legs are solidand long and lock into place securely with the clamps. But the added weightis a trade off I’m willing to make for something solid and well build and thisis indeed well built. ![]() I have not used it on a photogig yet but I am looking forward to it.įirst, this tripod is indeed heavy, almost 8 pounds with thehead on it and it’s certainly not a back-pack tripod to be used on long hikesand yes, it’s big. I just bought this tripod today and played around with it alittle. Rock solid- well built- professional level quality I paired this with a Manfrotto head and couldn't be happier. Everything locks solidly into place and movements are fluid when they need to be. It's a little wobbly fully extended, but not near as much as I expected (and I doubt you'll find any tripod that is stable at full extension). Other than that, this tripod has been excellent and served me well. The kinked zipper is mostly cosmetic for now, but I would like a more sturdy carry case. The carrying case seems a little on the cheap side, and didn't take long for the zipper to get kinked, but it's held up for about 2 years now with my occasional use. That's why I said in the "cons" that it'll depend on use. I like to do long exposure work, and this tripod holds my camera rock solid even in a little wind (and it doesn't take much wind to ruin a long exposure). The others talk about the weight of this tripod as a bad thing, but it's one of the reasons I bought it. ![]() That wasn't the case with this eight-hour daytime flight, though.Īs the operator of some of the world's longest flights, Emirates has definitely honed the art of onboard amenities and entertainment, even in its economy cabins.
